<p><span style="color: #000000; font-family: Calibri; font-size: medium;">Think about your customers. How amazed would they be if you provided them something of value that was unexpected? What about providing a report and analysis on their target market and how demographics may have changed over the past 5 years? Or something like dropping in to see how a product you have sold them is doing and provide a demo on how to use it better? Obviously the nature of the outcome of your proactivity will be different depending on what product or service industry you are in, however the principle remains the same.</span></p>
<p><span style="color: #000000; font-family: Calibri; font-size: medium;"> </span><span style="color: #000000; font-family: Calibri; font-size: medium;">On the flipside, how can you be proactive for your boss or your shareholders? I’m sure they would love the sound of you wanting to set up a meeting to discuss a more efficient way of doing something that you have determined will save them time and money. They will be shaking your hand and offering you a promotion!</span></p>

<p>They say failing to plan is planning to fail.</p>
<p>It gives direction, it brings focus and drives what you do every day.</p>
<p>Over the last couple of weeks we have said that we need to:</p>
<ol>
<li>Organise our business and personal lives by writing a task list and calendarising them</li>
<li>Create a vision &amp; get a team behind you motivated towards a common dream</li>
<li>Write down your vision and goals you want to set for yourself along the way</li>
</ol>
<p>So how do we reach our goals which will in turn lead to achieving our vision and therefore improve our quality of life? Good question…</p>
<p>Goal setting needs to follow the SMART rule:</p>
<ul>
<li>Specific</li>
<li>Measurable</li>
<li>Achievable</li>
<li>Realistic</li>
<li>Time bound</li>
</ul>
<p>Most of you have probably heard that acronym before, but how many of you actually set goals, and if you do, then how many of your goals satisfy each of these rules?</p>
<p>Each rule is essential in having a goal that will actually lead towards your vision.</p>
<p>Give it a go. Work hard, stay focused, and enjoy every day.</p>
